Increase Internet Explorer speed.
Article published on January, 2005.

Internet Explorer speed depends on number of simultaneous connections. Each connection can download one thing for you - this includes pictures on websites too. If website is just HTML text, then IE is fast enough even with default 4 connections. However nowadays websites are full of graphical elements.

Internet Explorer can be increased by editing registry entry. You can experiment with number of connections and see what works for you. Any number greater than 4 should increase IE speed.

1. Select Start -> Run. Type: regedit.

2. Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Internet Settings:

3. Click right mouse button on white space and select New -> DWORD Value:

4. Set name to: MaxConnectionsPerServer. Set value to: 20.

5. Create another DWORD Value. Set name to: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server and value to 20. At the end both new entries should look like that:

6. Experiment. Open web pages in IE and decide to increase or decrease value.
