Tweak FireFox for slow connection + old computer.

This guide will show you how to speed-up FireFox if you are using old and slow computer + slow internet connection (slow DSL or cable, dial-up).

1. Type in "about:config" in FireFox address bar:


2. Find dom.disable_window_status_change and set it to True:


3. find network.http.max-connections, click right mouse button on it, select "Modify" and set value to 32:


Set other options to:

network.http.max-connections-per-server: 8
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 8
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 4
nglayout.initialpaint.delay: 750

4. Click right mouse button and select New -> Boolean, set preference name to content.notify.ontimer and string value to true:


5. Click right mouse button and select New -> Integer, set name to content.switch.threshold and value: 750000. Do the same with content.notify.interval: 750000 and content.max.tokenizing.time: 2250000. At the end it should look like this:


6. Done. Restart FireFox and enjoy faster browsing.
